Crafting Light Through Colourful Glass
Jersey Stained Glass Artists specialising in restoration & creation
Our Story / team
Hi! We’re Jo and Harry and here’s a little about us and how this all started.
JM Emporium was founded by Jo MacKenzie, a Jersey Stained Glass artist specialising in both restoration and creation of traditional stained glass windows predominantly wanting to share her passion for this amazing form of art and due to high demand has since trained up her partner Harry (who was slowly getting involved in helping out when needed).
Firstly a little bit about Jo and her background.
A common question is how she got into stained glass. She grew up in her father’s stained glass studio who taught her from a very young age the traditional way of taking apart and building stained glass leaded panels, including cutting and painting glass. As a teenager she would assist him on big church projects and so learnt fast the ins and outs of the trade.
In 2019 she opened the doors to her very own shop at First Tower, JM Emporium which can now be found in Lumen Studios in Halkett Place (The little pink shop that can’t be missed!). Here you can find a range of our decorative pieces for sale along many more treasures and her little workshop tucked away at the back where you can discover the latest projects that we are working on.
A little bit about Harry.
Officially by trade Harry is a welder and engineer with an enthusiasm for always learning new skills. Since being with Jo he has often been roped in during busy times to assist on large scale jobs or to generally help keep up with demand. With an excellent eye for detail and precision, Harry is bringing a new phase to JM Emporium.
Past / Current Projects.
Locally we have worked on many private homes and larger restoration projects such as diamond leaded panels for Elizabeth Castle, the stained glass ceiling in the Howard Davis Memorial Hall, diamond repairs at St Mark’s Church, St Ouen’s Manor and St Saviour’s Parish Hall. Along our restoration work, we also offer creation work for private homes and or general buildings starting from the initial design process through to building the panels. We are also eager to create and showcase some new ideas to include some work inspired by Jersey Sceneries as light boxes.
What we love most of what we do is bringing old pieces of work back to life and seeing the light hit the colours of our work gives us so much joy.
